Instructions for authors

Seminars in Cardiovascular Medicine is an international journal publishing original papers and reviews in fundamental and clinical cardiology, angiology and cardiac surgery. Two members of international editorial board review manuscripts of original papers. Submission of manuscripts Original articles should not exceed 6000 words including references. The following set of files prepared by any standard word-processing software (paper copy is optional) has to be presented : · Cover letter (letter of submission) containing the title of the article and the name(s) of author(s). The following statements should be included: “the paper, or any part of it, has not been previously published elsewhere (except in the form of abstract or thesis) and is not currently under consideration for publication by any other journal”; “submission of the manuscript to Seminars in Cardiovascular Medicine has been approved by all author(s); “submission of the paper implies the transfer of copyright to the publisher upon acceptance for publication”. Potential conflict of interests should be explained or its absence clearly stated. · The manuscript should contain: Title page including the paper title, the names of all authors (with the full first name), the name of the department(s) to which the work should be attributed, the authors’ affiliations. The name, address, telephone number, fax and e-mail of the author responsible for correspondence are necessary. Abstract normally should not exceed 250 words. It should be structured into the following subsections: Objectives, Design and Methods, Results, and Conclusion(s). Three to five Keywords are necessary. Text should be structured according to the structure of the abstract, with appropriate subheadings if necessary. Statement “The investigation conforms with the principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki and approved by the local ethics committee” has to be mentioned in the Design and Methods section. Informed consent of the patients has to be stated. If animal research has been conducted, its conformity to approved rules of animal research has to be stated. Conclusions should follow the Discussion section. References should be presented in Arabic numerals within square brackets and sequenced in the order cited. The reference list should be listed alphabetically according to the names of the first three authors (if there are more than six). Please take a note of the following samples: Journal articles: 1. J Am Coll Cardiol 2001;37 (Suppl A):11A. Figure Legends should be provided as a part of the manuscript on a separate sheet. One page may contain legends to two or more figures. Tables should be prepared in a word-processing program using table format. They should follow the text or be submitted in separate files. The tables should maintain technical quality and appearance (see below) and be named accordingly. · Figures should be submitted in separate files named by the name of the first author, several words from the title and the number of the figure. TIFF, BMP, or PS file formats are preferable (resolution at least 300 dots per inch). No Word or Excel, or other vector drawings should be sent. Omit colors or replace them with patterns whenever possible. Color figures cause additional costs and should be agreed with the editors. Color illustrations may be published on the website of the journal in parallel with the grayscale/black-and-white variant on the paper copy.
